People liked it so much, they started suggesting that on Friday, everyone would be required to speak only English. I never endorsed that idea, but maybe that wasn"t such a bad suggestion. I found that the more time you spent exposed to English, the better your English becomes. I know it sounds simple, but it is difficult to squeeze in any English lessons when you are busy at work and busy at home, and no chance to use English. Anyway, I exported English Friday around to other units on base and even to the Headquarters staff. As the momentum grew, so did the audience. And so I put English Friday on the web in 2001 so that anyone could see what we were talking about on Fridays. I really could not capture the essesnce of the one point lesson here on the web, but at least, this was a start.

For the more ambitious "students", I also started a lunchtime group called, "Everyday English" or "EDE" for short. It was a pun...English that you can use everyday, but also that you had to study English everday (if you wanted to get better). I stressed learning it 3 times a day for just 5 minutes each time you study. So I made up a lesson for each day, we would gather for lunch and just chat about the lesson, or the weather, or the news, in English, about English, or about anything. Everyone was really getting into learning English.

In 2003, I got very busy in my job, and then in 2004, I moved to Hawaii. Work took over almost all of my free time, and this web site was left to stagnate.

Now, it is 2006 and I feel it is time to revamp and renew the English Friday web site. I hope you enjoy the plans that I have made. Better yet, I hope you actually get a chance to enjoy what I would like to do. I am not a professional web designer, I am not a formal English instructor, and yet, I feel compelled to show you that yes, you can learn English, and learn it well! I feel strongly that anyone can master any foreign language. It has a lot to due with discipline, repetion, and the right attitude. But just as important is choosing the right instructor. I hope that this web page beomes a tool that you and your teacher(s) can use to improve, and perfect your English. Ask Questions, Observe Others, and Enjoy the Language!

I apologize in advance for my poor Japanese translations. Japanese is not my first language, and I certainly have a lot left to learn. I really appreciate the difficulties of learning a foreign language. I have spent the last 11 years studying Japanese and really want to help you learn English!

イングリシュ・フライデーをはじめたのが2000年でした。小牧基地に転勤されたばかりで、アメリカ人一人で航空自衛隊の隊員と一緒に仕事 が始まりました。僕は米空軍交換幹部パイロットとして、自衛隊のパイロットに飛行機の操縦とかを教えるために、小牧に来ました。一人の自衛隊の パイロッテも同じように、アメリカまで行きました。パイロットはもちろん毎日飛行関係の英語を使うけど、日常会話する必要またはする機械はあまらいないの 気づきました。何か、みんな英語使う機会があったらいいと思って、毎週金曜日ワンポイントレッスンを始めました。

一様毎週金曜日がいいかなと思って、金曜日の朝のウェザブリフィング（天気のチェック）の後レッスンをはじめた。

忙しいから、英語の勉強できないなんて本当かもしれないが、ちょっとでもやれば…で感じ毎週がんばりました。徐々に人気になったか、 ぼくが回って多くの人にイングリシュ・フライデーを教えたからかこの毎週のレッスンの希望してる方が増えました。それに答えるつもりで、2001年 インタネットを始めてEnglishFriday.comを作りました。ネットでは本番のレッスンの気持ちまたはそのインパクトは伝われないが、なんとかなるとおもう。

ちなみに、もっと勉強したいという方がいってもうひとつのレッスンも始めた。それは、「Every Day English」　「EDE」。 EDEは二つの意味があって： ひとつは日常の英語。もうひとつの意味は英語は上手になりたいなら、勉強は毎日…（実は一日3回が最適だと思う朝昼晩、5分づつ勉強すれば上手になると思うな） EDEは毎日お昼ごろ、食べながら、しゃべながら、英語で英語を勉強していた。（理解するためにほとんどの説明は日本語だけど）

2004年航空自衛隊とクワェイトに臨時金で行きまして、忙しくなってこのページを更新ができなくなって、年末ハワイに転勤してさらに忙しくなって 2006年なっても更新してません。

どうも、更新しなければならないと思っても一回がんばりたいと思います。私は英語教官でもない、インタネットページの作り方もあんまりわかんないしさ、 日本語も下手。と言っても外国語の勉強の難しさがヨウク分かるから（日本語の暦11年間）あなたにも英語を上手になるようにI want to help you!
